I enjoyed my quiet time with the Lord this morning. It was especially sweet! On another note, I receive several newsletters from ministries that share my common beliefs. I respect their biblical knowledge and find them to be somewhat trustworthy. I finished up my study time by reading one of these newsletters. This particular newsletter mentioned a biblical truth and maintained an entirely different view than is held by another ministry I follow. This other ministry is also one that I share common beliefs with and respect their biblical knowledge etc. I began to think on that some. Whew! Two ministries that I believe are teaching truth take an entirely different stand about doctrine. What is one to believe? It was then that I quietly had a prompting in my spirit about how important it is to weigh EVERYTHING through the Word of God. I realized what a product we can be of what other people believe. Not only is this a foolish thing to do, but it can be deadly on some issues. It was another reminder to me that I can read information from and participate in another ministry, but it is absolutely CRUCIAL that I base what I believe on the Word of God and not someone else. We receive christian messages everywhere i.e. radio, magazines, tv, friends, bible study, pastors. How easily we can be led astray if we do not study the word of God for ourselves! How thankful I am to be reminded to seek truth for myself and be comfortable in knowing that God will show it to me! But then again, my favorite verse is still "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free!!" John 8:31-32 Don't you just love it? Have a good week.
